Junpei suggests humans should strive for indifference, but Mahito argues it sounds more like revenge.

Mahito explains that humans don’t have hearts but souls, which he can alter because he understands their composition.

He tells Junpei that emotions stem from the soul and that life has no inherent value, encouraging Junpei to do whatever he wants and not limit himself to indifference. Mahito supports everything Junpei represents.

Meanwhile, Yuji and Nanami continue their investigation, planning to gather more details.

Nanami instructs Yuji to cooperate with Kiyotaka Ijichi in investigating Junpei Yoshino. Nanami already knows Mahito’s hideout, but he doesn’t want to bring Yuji there as it could be dangerous, so he prefers to go alone.

Yuji and Ijichi drive to track Junpei, with Ijichi emphasizing the need to rescue him quickly if attacked by the cursed spirit they brought with them.

Ijichi explains the matching of sorcerer and cursed spirit grade levels.

In the sewer, Nanami defeats transmogrified humans who have turned cursed spirits. Mahito appears, expecting Gojo but seeing Nanami instead, and mocks him for being weak.

Mahito shows the boy a huge deformed body as an experiment on how big a human can get.
The boy's name is revealed as Junpei, and Mahito shows him another experiment on how small a human can get.
Junpei tells Mahito that humans should strive for indifference, but Mahito says it sounds more like revenge.
Mahito says humans don't have hearts but souls, and he can transmogrify them because he knows the soul's composition.
Mahito tells Junpei he can see the soul and says emotions come from the soul.
Mahito says life has no weight or particular value, and you can do whatever you want.
Mahito tells Junpei not to limit himself to just being indiferrent and that he supports everything Junpei represents.
Cut to the scene, Yuji and Nanami are continuing their investigations and plan on gathering more details.
Nanami tells Yuji to cooperate with Kiyotaka Ijichi as they investigate Junpei Yoshino.
Nanami tells Ijichi he already knows the location and wants to come alone and avoid bringing Yuji.
Yuji suddenly comes back and opens the door to tell Nanami to be careful.
Yuji and Ijichi are in a car, bringing a cursed spirit to track Junpei Yoshino.
Ijichi tells Yuji to rescue Junpei as soon as the cursed spirit they have attacks him.
Ijichi gives further instructions about apprehending Junpei, especially if he has jujutsu.
Ijichi explains to Yuji about sorcerer grade levels and cursed spirit grade levels and how they are matched up.
Cut to the scene, Nanami is inside the sewer and has defeated the transmogrified humans who have turned into cursed spirits.
Mahito shows up expecting Gojo to show up but sees Nanami instead and tells him he is weak.
End of chapter with an explanation about the opposite of love, indifference.
